Cheese is one of the great pleasures of life and should be mixed with one of the other great pleasures of life, wine, as often as possible.
We know that there are plenty of people (serious wine lovers among them) who feel that thinking too hard about wine and food matching is a level of fuss and fussiness too much, but without ever feeling the need to be too proscriptive or hectoring about it, our course guides you to uncover the secrets of harmonising the flavours and textures of these two culinary treasures, turning a simple tasting into a sensory adventure.
It’s with good reason that we pair certain foods and wines and some of those pairings are sublime, so our course covers:
- the great, classic cheese wine pairings of all time. Couplings such as a honeyed, apple-tangy dry oaked chenin blanc with a slice of equally creamy-tangy gruyere;
- the Great Dinner Party Dilemma. How to pair the right cheese with the right wine, but also how to create the perfect cheese board to complement your dinner menu;
- experimentation. There’s a lot of fun to be had challenging the rules and in seeking complementary combinations. Some pairing rules are immutable, but some are less resilient and should be toyed with.
The course teaches you the classics of cheese wine pairing, but also challenges you to go with your taste instincts.
