We have a range of fantastic fundraising events throughout the year. No matter what you choose, you’ll help give new hope to abused and neglected horses.
Join us for one of our upcoming events.
On the first Sunday of every month between October and June, we hold Harvest Days. Harvest Days are family-fun events about food production, sustainable agriculture and common sense environmentalism. They are also delicious and loads of fun.
Held within the Naturaliste Harvest Garden, you can buy a Harvest Basket and fill it to the brim while you graze the luscious vegetable beds, fruit tree orchards and herb gardens. Snack while you’re at it.
In the Gourmet Precinct, there’s loads of yummy food from some of the best local produce providers; the cream tea pavilion is groaning with delicious cakes, salads, wraps and pastries; the DunsBros perform every hour and the Leeuwin carriage mares hay ride everyone to and from the Habitat Corridor. Take a picnic to the lake after milking Madeleine, our cow, and wander through the butterfly garden, plucking fruit as you go.
There are door prizes and games for the kids, face painting, the DunsBros friends are there for feeding and patting and perfectly pretty pony rides are available all day.

Once a quarter, our beloved volunteers and donors come together to plant all the donated and sponsored trees in the Naturaliste Habitat Corridor.
It’s a great family day. In the mornings, we plant trees, install cockatoo and possum nesting boxes and banish forever the pernicious introduced weeds which love to find a home in the undergrowth. Kids learn about common sense environmentalism – protecting photosynthesis processes, regenerative farming, natural habitats, wildlife, sustaining ecosystems, clean waterways and reducing pollution.
In the afternoon, there’s a family barbecue. We provide the salads, breads, drinks and some of our homemade snaggers and ask you to bring any other food you might like.
The Dunsbros perform, the Leeuwin carriage mares are available for hayrides and the DunsBros friends are all in attendance for the kids to pat and feed.

Welcome to the Cape Naturaliste’s best cinema and one of the most magical events down south has to offer – a silver screen rising from the grass, a glorious backdrop of towering tuarts, under the pristine skies and blazing stars of the Naturaliste Coast.
There’s a pop-up bar (beer, wine and soft) and a number of local eating options, including picnic hampers, or bring a picnic of your own. There are cozy bean-bags in the priority seating area and loads of soft, sweet smelling grass for picnic rugs.
Before the main event, the DunsBros perform, the Leeuwin carriage mares shuttle VIP guests to the venue and often the Habitat Corridor black cockatoos come for, at times, a noisy visit. There’s door prizes for the adults and the DunsBros friends will be in attendance for the kids to pat and feed.
This is affordable, family-friendly entertainment, under a canvas of the south west’s fiery constellations. Come early. The fun starts at 6:30!

In the first of our Banquet in the Breezeway series, we start with a fabulous Christmas in July pop-up dinner in the breezeway of the Naturaliste Equestrian Centre.
We celebrate the festive season in the cool of winter. A time for Margaret River mulled wine, eggnog made from our eggs, fruit mince pies and Christmas pudding made from our plum trees, Margaret River turkeys, Naturaliste pork and winter vegetables direct from the Naturaliste Garden and served in the gorgeous Naturaliste stable, home of the DunsBros performing stallions and the Leeuwin carriage mares.
The whole estate is transformed into a winter wonderland, with a splendid tuart tree light display, fairy light arbour walk, a huge traditional Christmas tree and Santa even makes an appearance, delivered in a sleigh by the beautiful Leeuwins (reindeers refuse to work the northern summer).

Racing exposes horses to significant risk of injury, sometimes catastrophic injury, and death through trauma or emergency euthanasia. Our Nup-to-the-Cup luncheon celebrates all that is great about Australia’s most famous racing event without all the cruelty.
There’s a delicious 3 course luncheon, a 3 hour beverage package, fashions on the field, door prizes and sweepstakes to have a flutter. Our incredible A1 fantasy race course, with a mega screen to watch your virtual picks win, gives you the ultimate horse racing experience. From the paddock to the winner’s circle, become a champion racer and compete for glory in thrilling horse races (all without a single horse being whipped).
So, frock up and join us at the Cape’s most fun and glamorous Not Melbourne Cup event. All funds from the luncheon go to fund our advocacy work on behalf of horses in the racing industry.

Once a month we gather some of the world’s leading experts in ethology, neuroscience and biomechanics to discuss research into the training of horses to better understand and enhance horse welfare and improve the horse–rider relationship.
All horse owners are welcome, from the most experienced to the absolute beginner. We come together with one goal: To advance horse fair practice and understanding around the world through communication and the sharing of knowledge.
Served in the Naturaliste Estate’s orangery, our scrumptious (and calorie-free because, you know, jodhpurs) afternoon tea menu faithfully follows the traditional combination of sweet and savoury with a selection of delicious sandwiches, devonshire teas, hand-made pastries made with fruits from our orchards and washed down with lashings of rich Oolong and refreshingly complex Assam teas. Brewed coffee is also available for those us who were cleaning out stalls at 6 in the morning.

Every year, passionate people take action to raise funds for the Sanctuary’s life-saving work in rescuing horses by organising or joining an event or simply donating to an activity organised by our supporters. Whether you run, ride, BBQ, fast, bake, shave a mo’ or dig or devise a fundraiser of your own, you play a vital role in our work.
The funds you raise will help give abused and neglected horses a safe, happy and healthy life.
It’s also great fun.
Fundraising at school is a great way to get involved with Naturaliste Sanctuary and help save horses within your community and the rest of Australia. Schools support us in lots of different ways, for example, holding bake sales, movie nights, fetes or plain clothes days.
If you’d like to hold a special fundraising event, we’d be happy to talk to you about having the DunsBros attend.
We can even arrange a tour of the Naturaliste Clinic for you, to see our rescue and recovery work up close.
So many corporations and business in Western Australia support the work of the Naturaliste Sanctuary.
We greatly appreciate the support of workplaces that are committed to improving welfare outcomes for horses.

Volunteering is essential to the ongoing operation and success of the Naturaliste Group and to successfully achieving our aims of horse rescue, welfare and advocacy.
Our volunteers play a critical role in delivering the Naturaliste Group’s charitable objectives. They volunteer in the Garden, the Habitat Corridor, at the Ethology Program, in the Naturaliste Shed, on Harvest Days and, most importantly, helping horses in the Sanctuary.
The Margaret River area abounds with community-minded individuals with a plethora of skills and we encourage them to contribute through on-going effort, one-off engagements and large-scale initiatives.
Our commitment to volunteers means our programs are rewarding, outcome-focussed, organised and well-run.
