The DunsBros are three gorgeous and hilarious stallions who, along with all their friends, live and love their lives at the Naturaliste Sanctuary.

audin (Baudie) is the head of the DunsBros and everyone’s dad. With his brothers Freycinet (Freycie) and Hamelin (Archie), he is part of the famous DunsBros performing troupe (shameless show ponies and international gentlemen of leisure).
Baudie has many responsibilities, He vigilantly watches over his whole family as they graze, play and sleep. He alerts them to threats, often with a loud whinny, and makes sure everyone is happy. Every morning he tours the property to make sure the grass is fresh, the water is clean and those pesky, boingy kangaroos have brekkie on the lawn.
Baudie loves a fact or two and a LOT of jargon. His favourite is using evidence-based training principles by assessing and integrating scientific findings to create “leading practices” in all areas of performance in the DunsBros arena on Harvest Days based on empirical outcomes.
Baudie shows children how wonderful you can be through study, hard work, commitment and with a bit of artistic flair.
Freycinet the Stallion
reycinet (Freycie) is part of the famous DunsBros performing troupe and, along with his brothers, Baudin and Hamelin, performs amazing feats at Harvest Days.
Freycie grew up in Austria, from where most of the 20th century’s seminal thinkers emerged, and when he first saw a kangaroo he said, “You’re kidding, right”?
He often finds himself swept up in the wild games of Beatrice’s boys, Baxter, Bentley and Benedict, or pounced on by the baby goats who love to use his back as a springboard. His snacks are often stolen by Groucho the Cockatoo, but Freycie doesn’t mind – he is endlessly forgiving and is always a good sport about it.
He and Hamelin are very good friends, though they can be competitive over important things like who gets the first snack or the biggest back scratch.
He’s caring and level-headed and, like the rest of his family, Freycie loves to play music and help people dance at Harvest Days!
amelin (Archie) is one of the Dunsborough Brothers (DunsBros) and grew up in Germany, which, according to him, makes him “very obedient”.
Archie is a clown who loves to perform and is never happier than when he’s dancing in the DunsBros Arena at Harvest Days. His favourite trick is schmooshing his arena ball so hard it makes a raspberry sound which makes everyone scream with laughter.
Sometimes Archie is a bit of a space invader, pushing into the other DunsBros in the arena. He’s young and is still learning about boundaries and personal space, often choosing to stand right up close when he’s talking to his friends.
His friends gently help him to realise that not being pushy and keeping his distance is good manners which are a good thing in a stallion.
Archie teaches children the great lesson that being a clown requires restraint and self-restraint is the best.
Hamelin the Stallion
Godfrey the Fourth Friesian
odfrey the coulda-been, shoulda-been, wanna-be Friesian is a wild-living party donkey who just loves to dance. He is mischievous and carefree and lives at the Sanctuary where, unbeknownst to humans, he throws wild parties and frolics under the stars.
When he’s not nicking snacks from the feed shed, Godfrey prefers having fun with his best friends, Freycinet the stallion, Maggers the magpie and Groucho the cockatoo, rather than following strict rules and accepting responsibility.
Godfrey believes so much he’s a Friesian, he achieves the impossible – he sneaks into the arena at Harvest Days and performs with the stallions.
He teaches children the value of optimism, aspiration and hard work to achieve sometimes a difficult goal (even if he has to wear wig socks to achieve it).
eeuwin and her sisters, Lieke, Liesbeth and Lotte, are witty, graceful and very brilliant horses. Their high-stepping elegance is perfectly suited to the role of carriage horses which showcases the jewels of their pas-de-deux splendour.
Their beautiful black, glossy stylishness is second only to their sense of fun. On Harvest Days, they love to take people on rides around the Naturaliste Sanctuary to the Habitat Corridor or canter around the paddock, performing arabesques and piaffes with perfect precision.
They love the stallions and are good mums to all the DunsBros friends, throwing themselves into dancing and games and going with all the friends on adventures.
They always see the fun side and can be just as silly as the stallions when it comes to playtime; they love dancing around the arena with them to their favourite songs.
The Leeuwins teach children that being cultivated and stylish does not have to get in the way of fun!
Leeuwin Carriage Mares
Madeleine and Milly
adeleine and her daughter Milly live at the Sanctuary. Mum Madeleine provides the Sanctuary with delicious fresh, creamy milk which is what’s left over when Milly has had enough. She is a Friesian cow like her mum and has quite a few older brothers and sisters.
Milly is kind and supportive towards all her DunsBros peers, but she can sometimes be shy and apprehensive. Due to her shyness, she would often play by herself, but her best friends, the Giggly Goats, give her the confidence to be silly and playful.
She and the Giggly Goats became inseparable best friends after playing a game of carousel at Harvest Day together. The goats love to jump on the wheelie feed bins and whirl around in circles (their carousel), which Milly now loves too!
Milly and all the goats will always be friends because the goats are bold and confident and this gives Milly courage.
Milly loves meeting new friends at Harvest Days where her mum is a star who shows kids where milk comes from.
orgeous, giggly Gwendolyn, Genevieve, Gabrielle, Georgia, Gemma, Gloria, Gillian, Griselda, Gwyneth, Guinevere and Georgette are born to gambol about the meadow on a gaily basis. They’re little balls of bouncy energy, bounding about with butterflies, cavorting with the cockatoos, frollicking in the flowers.
When they’re not frisking around with the Friesians, they’re bounding about with their best friends: Hamelin the stallion, Beatrice’s boisterous babies and Milly the calf.
They love new discoveries and often find themselves captivated by the small wonders of the world, like the best way to speccy off a hay bale or double flip on a feedbin.
Their favourite game is whirling about on the wheelie feed bins until they get so dizzy they fall off. Milly loves this too!
They might occasionally lose track of time, but they’re very good at showing kids how to live in the moment and find new ways to caper through life.
Gorgeous Giggly Goats
Beatrice and her Boys
eatrice and her boisterous Kerry lamb boys, Baxter, Bentley and Benedict, are a rascally family of triplets who enjoy getting wild and playing action-packed games.
Kerry Hill lambs come from Wales in the United Kingdom which means they love long-winded poetry and eschew the use of vowels.
The brothers’ favourite games are ones from medieval times especially if swords, shields, bows and arrows are involved.
In the name of the Sanctuary, they protect their hay forts and feed bin castles from anyone foolish enough to try to invade them, especially any pesky kangaroos or thumpy little rabbits.
When they’re not fighting for the Sanctuary, the boys also love dancing around, being silly and making armpit fluffies! They are friends with the stallions and Groucho the cockatoo, who joins in the wild adventures, squawking and keeping watch in case of castle invaders.
When it comes to the mad antics of Beatrice’s boys, good things always come in threes!
aggers came to the Sanctuary as a baby. He’d fallen from his nest and we couldn’t find his mum. Maggers now lives in the trees around the Sanctuary with his very noisy, high-spirited family, but he still loves to visit.
The Magpie Circus is where Maggers loves to perform.
Under the direction of circus visionary Maggers the Magnificent, the Magpie Circus features an ensemble of exceptionally gifted, multi-skilled magpie artists who perform amazing feats like hanging upside down from the trapeze, squabbling over whose turn it is with the soccer ball, dive bombing the cat’s tails, tumbling inside the ferris wheels and generally screeching up a storm.
Maggers loves his family and lives a happy and exuberant life up in the Sanctuary trees, but he also loves to meet new friends at Harvest Days and showcase his hilarious acrobatic skills.

Groucho the Cockatoo
roucho the Cockatoo is grouchy – grouchy eyes, grouchy eyebrows, super-sharp grouchy beak, even grouchy scratchy feet; and everything makes Groucho grouchy – the sun is too bright, the dirt is too dirty, the sky is too blue, the trees are too tall.
But Groucho is not lonely. From Miss Havisham to Boo Radley, Groucho is right up there with the greatest of the loners – intrinsically interesting, standing outside, always observing – but then along comes his DunsBros friends, a cheerful and exuberant bunch, who bring joy, companionship and a new perspective to Groucho’s life.
Groucho used to raid the stallion’s feed bins for treats, but treats for horses aren’t necessarily good for cockatoos, so to encourage Groucho to make better choices, all the DunsBros friends, and Gracie his best cockatoo friend, feed him special cockatoo treats on the lawn. Groucho loves these treats and flies down every afternoon for cockatoo high tea!
Groucho’s friends help him to understand what it means to have friends and how people with quite different ways of going through life can be the best of mates.
linor, Elspeth and all the ladies love living at the Sanctuary. Not only is there food galore, there’s green grass and butterfly gardens and fruit orchards in which to frolic. They’re fed all sorts of delicious food scraps straight from the Harvest Garden and for treats find themselves mealworms hidden in the garden beds (yuck!).
All the ladies and their babies live in a big, happy family and share their delicious, farm-fresh eggs with everyone at the Sanctuary. During the day they live in the green grass of the paddocks, protected and watched over by the stallions, and at night they return to the cozy Chateau de là Choók where their warm straw beds and snuggly nesting boxes means they snooze the night away, safe from feral foxes and cats.
On Harvest Days, the ladies love to be fed by all the kids who come to visit. They’re especially susceptible to a small bit of vege pizza and a nice brioche, in addition to sun-dried raisins and a chocolate covered worm or two (yuck!).
