The Naturaliste Habitat Corridor is located in the South West WA Biodiversity Hotspot and within the nationally recognised Busselton-Augusta Biodiversity hotspot.

We’re on a mission to plant 8,000 trees and plants across the culturally and ecologically important Naturaliste Habitat Corridor.
The Naturaliste Habitat Corridor Rehabilitation Plans recommends around 200 species to re-establish the flora species of the original riparian area.

We have structured sponsorship packages with a mix of very specific flora which create the perfect Habitat Corridor for our beloved endangered species.

Your purchase will help the Naturaliste Sanctuary plant, grow and protect a range of trees and under plantings, some of which are rare or endangered.

Underplanting is a great way to bring habitat diversity into the Corridor. We have a wide range of plants recommended by the Naturaliste Habitat Corridor Rehabilitation Plan.	A new meandering watercourse filled with water cleansing plants treats polluted water entering and leaving the stream. These plants filter water of sediments and nutrients, reduce runoff and erosion and provide habitat and forage for slithery wildlife like frogs, marron and fish.	Select from a list of recommended nectar, pollen, insect, nesting material and sites, seed and harbourage shrubs for all our lovely honeyeater, insect eater and seed eater birdies.

The Busselton-Augusta Biodiversity hotspot’s most famous and sexiest stars are the Majestic Six eucalypts. We have a package of 6 of our advanced growth, world-renown, tall-growth “majestic” canopy trees which are essential to provide a home for the Western Ringtail Possum, Quenda (Southern Brown Bandicoot), Brush-tailed Phascogale, Baudin Black Cockatoos, Bearded Dragon and Pygmy Possum (pictured) to name a few. What’s a Habitat neighbourhood?

Using the planting recommendations prescribed in the Naturaliste Habitat Corridor Rehabilitation Plan we have structured sponsorship packages around a mix of very specific flora which create the perfect Habitat Corridor for our beloved endangered species. These packages create “neighbourhoods” which we invite you to name.

We’ll plant your trees for you or you can attend our quarterly tree-planting BBQ days and plant your own. Loads of fun for all the family, so please join us.

What does "naming rights" mean?

The Naturaliste Habitat Corridor Rehabilitation Plan describes “neighbourhoods” of flora clusters which, when aggregated together, create the habitat corridor. When you purchase any of the “Naming Rights” flora packages we invite you to name the suburb or neighbourhood. This neighbourhood is sketched on the Naturaliste Habitat Corridor design blueprint and published on the Naturaliste Sanctuary website. Name the suburb anything you want, your family name – Smithton, Brownborough, Clairebrook – for example.

From time-to-time, eco-consultants assess the corridor and we update you on the health and development of your neighbourhood.

Why 8000 trees?

It’s in the rehabilitation plan. The plan describes the ideal number of trees, and tree type, to create for the perfect habitat for our native fauna. The actual number was 7892 trees of varying types so we rounded up to 8000!

We aim to plant 8000 native trees and understory fauna along the Naturaliste Habitat Corridor. It’s a fantastic way to create diverse “neighbourhoods” of native flora within the native stream and save the lives of some very cute endangered species!

When you buy a tree or mixed plant package you get naming rights of the “neighbourhood” you create. Name it anything you want!

From where do you source your plants?

The southwest of Western Australia is a biogeographic region noted as one of only 36 biodiversity hotspots on Earth. Fortunately for us, there are a number of world-class specialist growing nurseries with extensive inventories growing exactly the species of flora described in the Corridor Rehabilitation Plan. We purchase plants at wholesale prices from these nurseries and price the packages based on wholesale prices. We don’t add a margin.

Can I choose my neighbourhood?

Sure. You can choose whichever neighbourhood you’d like with the Plan.

Do I have to plant my sponsored plants?

You can if you wish. We have planting BBQ days once a quarter which you’re very welcome to attend. If digging and watering is not your thing, we will arrange to have your plants planted in your agreed “neighbourhood”.

Can I pay over time?

Yes, of course. For the naming rights packages we’re happy to receive the sponsorship in installments over three months. If you prefer, AFTERPAY is also available.

Are there any ongoing costs?

None at all. Once the selected package is purchased, we love and care for your plants within the Corridor. If you ever want to visit your babies, let’s us know and we’ll meet you onsite.
